Activity
The Culture Alliance brings together organisations, creatives and partners to collaborate on projects and initiatives that support the sector - from research and advocacy to partnership-building and new approaches to funding and development.
Place-based philanthropy
We are working with partners across Brighton & Hove to explore new approaches to place-based philanthropy, connecting local donors, supporters and organisations to better support arts and culture.
Through conversations and pilot activity, we’re developing more collaborative and sustainable ways of attracting and sharing support, particularly for smaller organisations across the city.
This is an evolving, sector-led initiative focused on strengthening relationships across the city - and we’re keen to involve partners, organisations and supporters who want to help shape this work.
Re:Frame Visual Arts Analysis is a new city-wide piece of research exploring the strengths and challenges facing Brighton & Hove’s visual arts sector.
Developed with artists, organisations and partners across the city, it sets out key priorities for the future — from workspace and artist development to public art and sector collaboration.
Instigated as part of the ABCD Cultural Recovery Programme to protect Brighton & Hove’s cultural spaces for future generations. This group has been reviewing options for creative space in the City, exploring new models - e.g. in community ownership - and maximising the existing local capital and organisational infrastructure.
Anti-Racism Creative Collective
This group first came together in January 2023 to devise and deliver a grant programme that invited creative responses to the legacies of the transatlantic slave trade. ARCC aims to support Brighton & Hove’s cultural sector to lead on anti-racist practices in the city.
